Broad Rock Elementary

Broad Rock Elementary in Richmond City Public Schools is the first project for IHAD Richmond. Broad Rock is located on Ferguson Lane in the southern end of Richmond. Built in 1937, it houses grades Early Childhood through Fifth Grade, including both regular education and exceptional education classes.

The school serves a population of approximately 366 students and is proud of it's diversity of educational programs and involvement with community partners.

This video "DREAMS STILL COME ALIVE: Exploring Virginia History" was creatred during an Art in Education Residency program at Broad Rock elementary school in Richmond, Virginia. Tunde Afolayan worked with the fourth grade students to create this mural which explores Virginia history and the first English settlement. This project was sponsored byGail and Ken Henshaw through "I HAVE A DREAM" Foundation Richmond, VA.
